Make your website your own.
A practical guide to themes, editing and a safely saved draft.
Choose a theme and preset
Browse by style, search for a theme or compare its presets. Open a theme to explore the actual demo, then choose a preset for your website.
- Open Themes from your website or Settings.
- Choose Customize on the preset you want. Review its starting layout and the option to keep your content.
- Select Switch. Your previous design is saved in version history before the theme is applied.
Start from scratch opens the same editor with an empty homepage. Your brand name and logo stay with your website. Applying a theme does not publish it.
Edit sections, blocks and styles
Choose Sections to see the current page, shared header and footer. Click a block in the outline or the preview to select it. Content changes the words, imagery and links. Design changes layout, spacing, type, backgrounds and borders.
Use the desktop, tablet and phone controls to work at the right size. Block styles can inherit the theme or override it for smaller screens. Theme settings controls the shared typography, colors, buttons, product cards and other storefront elements.
Timing controls display. Published content remains public; keep unreleased content in a private draft.
Use Inter or another bundled storefront font for your brand. The KickStart interface keeps its own type and controls.
Add and reuse your imagery
Open Assets to upload images to your account library. Choose an image field on a block, then select an asset from the library. Add useful alternative text and adjust its fit or focal position where the block supports those controls.
Theme campaign images are starting content. Replace them with artwork and photography you have permission to use. Your logo and favicon are managed in Theme settings. A hero can use a separate phone image.
Wait for an upload to complete before leaving. If an upload fails, your editor shows a retry state rather than treating the file as saved.
Create pages and navigation
Open Pages to add a page from a template, change its title and address, or edit its search appearance. The storefront includes templates for shopping, product details, search, bag, account, contact, checkout and content.
Use Edit navigation in Pages to arrange links and submenus. Header and footer blocks control how those links are presented. Review policy pages and replace draft terms with your own business details before live sales.
Changing the theme can preserve your custom pages, navigation, copy and assets. Review the keep-content choice before applying it.
Save, recover and resolve a conflict
Edits save automatically. Saved means the current draft reached your account. Saving means a write is pending. A save failure keeps the editing state available and gives you a retry action.
When browser storage is available, the editor also retains a recovery copy. If a newer account version exists, review the available recovery and account versions instead of overwriting one silently. A blocked browser storage setting can prevent a durable device copy.
Keep the session open while an editor needs attention. Download a recovery copy when offered, then retry or load the latest version safely. Signing out waits for active editor saves and keeps the session open if an editor cannot finish.
Use history and saved personal themes
Undo and redo work within the editing session. Version history keeps saved snapshots, including checkpoints made before theme changes. Open Version history to inspect and restore an earlier draft.
Save a personal theme to reuse a design and its content as another starting point. Your saved theme library is private to your account. Removing a personal theme from the library does not delete the current website.
Restoring a draft and changing the published version are separate actions. Review the version and address before publication.
Preview and publish a test storefront
Use Preview to explore the storefront without editing it. The interactive preview uses the same renderer as the published site.
- Finish saving your current changes.
- Choose Publish and review the exact website version, address and any blockers.
- Approve the reviewed version to publish the test storefront.
Later draft edits stay private until you publish again. The current release keeps merchandise payments in test mode. A test order does not authorize manufacturing or fulfillment.
Connect the storefront to your business
Your website uses the products, variants, images and fixed currency prices in the store catalog. The shopper can search, choose options and use the bag. Customer accounts, contact messages and newsletter signup connect to your brand’s saved data.
Payments, domains and email delivery each need their own setup in Settings. A working signup form does not mean a newsletter campaign has been sent. A selected domain does not mean its ownership, routing and certificate checks have passed.
Features such as slideshows, quick view, promotional popups and product galleries can be added or configured in the editor. A preset is a starting composition, so it does not enable every available feature at once.
Open SettingsGet help without losing your work
For a save problem, keep the editor open, read the local error and retry. If there is a recovery download, save that copy before replacing a draft. If a service is not configured, its setup screen explains what is needed.
When asking for help, include the page you were editing, what you tried and the error shown. Keep payment details, passwords, API keys and private customer data out of a support description.
